GZG Civilian Scientist

I wanted to give the Wargames Foundry Lemon Yellow 3-step paint palette a try, so I dug out one of my GZG civilian scientist types and went to work.  Not long after that, I was quite pleased with the outcome!

Check him out!

RoboFire: More Stand-ins

The sheer breadth of the Blue Moon line of miniatures, and my strong ties to it, make it a perfect source for miniatures for RoboFire. Last night and this morning I knocked out the beginnings of a small combined arms, 6mm force for some potential RF games.

I used some old 6mm NSL infantry from GZG to help provide a sense of scale. From the Blue Moon line, I grabbed one of the 15mm Robot Legion Velon Skirmisher models, and I also pulled out a recently arrived robot from BM's currently unreleased set of multi-piece 28mm robots. When this kit is released, it is going to be phenomenal, as Bob Naismith has just outdone himself on the designs. It's loaded with different heads, arms, and bodies to allow gamers to make whatever combos they like!

Anyway, this one makes an ideal medium RoboTank for my game. Here are the pics!

In my game, you're forces will be at most, 6 - 10 units. A single RoboTank counts as one unit. This 28mm Blue Moon robot makes for an excellent medium RoboTank in 6mm.

Sticking with the hunched, non-humanoid style of the above piece, the 15mm Velon Skirmisher stands in well for a lite RoboTank, a scout or spotter, if you will. I included the 6mm GZG infantryman for a sense of scale.

Finally, you quickly loose the "thread" of any smaller scale sci-fi or fantasy game without infantry, as they help provide that sense of scale I keep jabbering about. Here are a unit of GZG infantry doing just that:

Another key aspect of the RoboFire rules will be the ability to play with whatever minis you have to hand, and in whatever scale you like, between 6mm - 15mm, and even bigger if you like. Having a go at 6mm sci-fi again has been fun, and I will add more to complete this quirky force.

Thanks for checking out the blog!

Somebody Call The Cops!

The 15mm cops, that is. These GZG Hammer's Slammers troopers will make excellent peace officers for my Starport 3030 setting.

Their proportions are a bit chunky, but as with all things 15mm, they blend in pretty well when consistently based with the other models. The two comparison shots are with a GZG Ravager space pirate, and a RAFM crewman.

Now I have to paint up the five remaining guys to complete Starport 3030's 1st Peace Keeper Precinct.

Race Bannon in 15mm?

Well, maybe...

This GZG mini slightly resembles a 15mm sci-fi Race Bannon from Johnny Quest.

GZG Bulldog Truck

The denizens of Starport 3030 need some more transport. This is a start! The model is the GZG V15-40A Bulldog Truck.

The cab gun is not glued on, so I can pop it off for scenarios that do not call for an armed vehicle.

It's all metal and quite nice. Very little flash and assembles easily. My next GZG order will include some more hover cars and vehicles that could be used in either a civilian, police, or military role.

15mm Sci-Fi Skirmish

Ever since the days of the Traveller RPG folks have used 15mm figures in skirmish and role-play. I am slowly building a collection of 15mm sci-fi minis that will allow me to do the same.

One thing I've discovered, and it should have been obvious to me, is that 15mm figures paint up really fast--there's just less area to cover!

I knocked out 6 yesterday. Check them out!

The figures are a mix of RAFM and GZG space pirate types.

I also did this little runabout grav car from GZG:

My goal is to populate an entire star-port full of 15mm sci-fi figure. Should be fun!
