ITEN: Rapturous Beasts Ascending

So my buddy Stu saw my post on Reaper's mutant and got a burr in his saddle to play some In The Emperor's Name (ITEN).  If you have not heard of it, it's a mainly fan-made skirmish system for doing Abnett-style Inquisitorial games in the 40K universe. I had the good fortune to nose my way into the process a few years ago and add some cool stuff to the 2nd ed. I know there is a 3rd ed. in the works, but we'll be using the 2nd ed. this morning.

Anyway, I dug through my extensive collection of minis suitable for building a warband for this, and decided on an Ordo Xenos Inquisitor and his band. This guy is a bit of a heretic, so he's willing to pal around with aliens to get the job done. Check them out!

Here's the band. 200 pts., 8 models.

Inquisitor Holger Geist (a Cobalt mini).
Ygori, his mutant henchmen.
Greskin, alien psyker (Blue Moon mini).
P'knoc, Kroot tracker.
Imperial Interdiction Team.

I'll stat the Interdiction Team up as Guardsmen with shotguns. The alien psyker will be made up using the standard psyker rules and profile. Ygori the mutant will be a standard Inquisitorial agent with some sort of minor special ability. I'll include the Kroot using the Strange Ally rules that allows one model from another list.

So yeah, ITEN makes for a great way to dust off the old (or not so old!) minis and get some gaming in!

Blue Moon Alien Joins the Crew

I painted up one of the aliens from the Blue Moon Supreme Alien Commanders boxed set.  I feel like this guy would be a great alien adviser to my Cobalt-1 crew.

Check him out:

Cobalt Space Merchant

Managed to block out some time to paint one of the Cobalt miniatures from my backlog. Cobalt figures are available from Black Hat Miniatures, and sculpted by Bob Naismith.

I did a weapon swap with one of the excellent pistols from Heresy Miniatures.

Here he is!

Off The Shelf: Cobalt Abhors

I've raved in the past about Black Hat's Cobalt line, so here are a couple of minis from the Abhors faction. I painted these guys almost 10 years ago! They've served me well as villains over the years in everything from sci-fi to supers.

Cobalt Aruks!

Bob Naismith will always be my favorite sculptor. Not only is he an extremely accomplished professional, but he is a joy to work with and quite capable of designing almost anything sent to him.

His alien Aruks from his own Cobalt line are among my all-time favorite models from Bob's studio. I thought I'd share some pics of some Aruks I've painted over the last couple years.

The big guy below is Manchos, one of the coolest alien figures I have ever painted! He's the bodyguard of the the little guy, Erkon-7.

Here's a close-up of one of the great sergeant types Bob did for the line:

They come with slot tabs, but I put them on washers.

These figs are currently in production limbo, but if enough folks clamored for their re-release, I am sure Bob would oblige!
