Part II of my Heroclix re-paints - Mercury and Iron from the Metal Men. I did varying amounts of work on them. I didn't have to do too much to Iron, other than a couple of washes and some highlights, but Mercury was a bit more involved. I repainted the whole fig in red, threw a wash or two on it, and did a couple of highlights. The fig isn't sculpted well enough to warrant this, I discovered, but C'est la vie! I need to get these statted out for Super Mission Force.
I love the Metal Men!

Heroclix re-paints
Here are some Heroclix re-paints that I just finished - Ultron and the Absorbing Man. The amount of work on them was not too involved. I basically just re-based them both, and put a couple of washes on Ultron. The Absorbing Man was a bit more involved, with several washes and probably a little too much re-work on his trousers, but it came out pretty well, I think. They are good sculpts, and I didn't have to re-prime them. Just goes to show you that you can easily spruce up a lot of average painted figures and improve their overall looks.

Meet A Floronic Foe
I ran Pathfinder last night and nearly authored a second TPK in a row! Luckily, everyone survived. One of the party's foes last night was a dead goblin Druid, animated by infernal & intelligent plant matter. Hey, it's fantasy, what do you want?
I found this awesome DC Heroclix Floronic Man mini to use for the occasion and I re-based him. I think he fit the bill quite well, but see for yourselves!
Now my Pathfinder players have got their PCs to 5th level, so we'll move on to the next chapter in Rise of the Rune Lords.

Shadowrun: When Bugs Attack!
Insect spirits are one of the most dangerous foes a character can face in Shadowrun, and I have shown off my Roach Spirit earlier on this blog. But what other models to use? How about Heroclix Brood models?
Yes! These nasty aliens from the X-Men comics make perfect materialized insect spirits or their transformed servants.
Check them out!
Hasti's fellow runners better show up or he's in for a hive of trouble!

Shadowrun: Shadows of Mumbai Episode 5 Prep
What's better than having a great night of gaming to look forward to over the weekend? Having Thursday and Friday off from work to prep for it! I always save a bit of vacation for the end of October and beginning of November. It's my favorite time of year, with my second favorite holiday (Halloween) leading into my favorite holiday (Thanksgiving) later in the month. And I just love the Fall.
Anyway, Episode 5 of Shadows of Mumbai goes off tomorrow night! There will be thrills, chills, and some revelations as the storyline advances forward. Hopefully my players will be on their toes!
Last night I prepped a new NPC, this one for Rico's character. She's his new animatronic companion, since his character's flesh and blood companion betrayed him, then met an untimely end. Rico's character, a renegade street doc who goes by the name of Hermes, now trusts no one outside of the runner group, so he had Lynx, the group rigger, and Verdun, the Troll hacker, juice up an artificial companion. I used the Heroclix Hope Taya mini (Superman, Uncommon) for her, and here she is:
With all of the rampant drug use and the other stuff going on, our Shadowrun campaign would likely receive an NC-17 rating, but I can assure you all that it's tastefully done. Really, trust me on this one.

She required minimal work, just a flesh re-paint, and a re-base. Also did her boots and glasses. |

'Clix Trix: Another Effortless Conversion
My buddy Eric has a great game and comic shop (Bill & Walt's on 4th Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh). One of the best things about it are the bins of 'Clix figures just waiting to be pawed through. Many times you'll find 'Clix detached from their bases.
That's the case with the subject of today's post, a lovely blond oozing attitude. She screamed "Technomancer", so that's what she'll be in the Shadows of Mumbai campaign.
So meet Sophie Sim--that's her street name!
So if someone knows who this gal actually was, please sound off so other folks can track her down.
Ok, so I am told she'sBoom Boom Tabitha Smith (thanks, Rich!) from the Marvel Nextwave series. Now you too can add her to your collection!

Another Star Wars Minis To Shadowrun Conversion
This one came about pretty organically. I was working a shift at Phantom (my local FLGS) and I had some of my various 'Clix and Star Wars bits with me. The Star Wars Bith Rebel (Universe, Common) was already missing his left hand from and earlier conversion, so I removed his head and replaced it with the head and left hand from a Heroclix Thug (another Common).
I decided to do a full-on re-paint on this one as the details were very sharp and really called for it. I'm loving this guy! He has some real attitude, and could be a tech, hacker, rigger, or just some corporate crony. Or a valuable contact. We'll see!

Shadowrun: Ork Street Samurai
We've been looking for more metahuman types for the Shadowrun campaign, so while at my buddy Eric's shop last week, I spied a Heroclix Black Tarantula figure--a perfect mini for an SR conversion!
I simply brought him home, popped his head off, added some green stuff for a landing point, and popped on a sawed off head from a D&D Minis Orc. Instant Ork Street Sam!
A bit of mild re-painting, and here he is!
If I get time this week I may add some gear and pouches to further kit him out.

Shadowrun: Indian Gun Adept
I took a Heroclix Deadshot (alternate costume) and did another head swap with an OG Pathan head, and came up with a great Indian Gun Adept for Shadowrun.
Gun Adepts channel magic into a fiendish efficiency with firearms.
This guy certainly fits!

Shadowrun: Mr. Prem K. Sharma
Prem K. Sharma is an excellent character from the Over the Edge RPG and On the Edge CCG from Atlas Games (see the links on the left).
I dig him so much I decided to convert a miniature for him an introduce him into my SR campaign. He'll be a prominent Mumbai businessman, but is he really much more than that? Time will tell!
Conversion courtesy of a Johnny Sorrow Heorclix figure and another OG Pathan head.

Super Interlude II: The Hound
My friend Andrew is running his M&M game this Saturday. I was going to do Doc Kraken, but decided I wanted to play a more human character this time around! Late last week I dropped by my buddy Eric's store and perused his Clix; I found an ideal model to re-paint for the Hound, my chronally displaced super-tracker and psi-brawler.
This Checkmate Medic made an ideal base for my minor conversions. Cut the staff from his hands, and replaced his left hand with a closed fist from a hideously sculpted Clix Spiderman.
He was a pleasure to re-paint, and the Hound will soon hunt again, but this time in 2012, not in the dystopian 2156 he hails from!

VMF: A Secret Invader?
One of the core premises of my Villain Mission Force RPG using BASH is the idea that the player characters have a secret benefactor who bank-roles the VMF and instructs the Vanisher who to make membership offers to.
The PCs don't ever see this person--it's like Charlie's Angels in that way. So if it's like Charlie's Angels, wouldn't I need a Bosley character? A majordomo of sorts. I settled on a Skrull. Why? Not sure, just thought it would be a fun juxtaposition of images.
I did not want to use the name "Bosley"--too obvious. So I settled on Rothby. A little ostentatious, a trifle exotic. Maybe kind of cool. With concept and name in mind, I set about converting a Heroclix model into an appropriate Rothby.
I started with the Aaron Stack (Machine Man) 'Clix figure. This really is a dynamite figure for conversions.
Here it is:

I sawed off the head and hands, and replaced them. The head came from an older 'Clix Skrull trooper figure. The hands came from a Star Wars Weequay Thug figure.
Then I re-painted him. Here he is:

I like this conversion so much I want to play him in somebody else's game!
Anyway, in issue #1 when the players first met him, they asked Rothby where he came from. I think someone said, "Are you really a Skrull?" He replied, "Yes, the Facilitator rescued me from an ignominious fate in some cow pasture."
So yeah, had to stick that little Marvel Universe history nugget in there.
Hopefully I'll have time to do at least one RoboFire post this weekend. We shall see. I have some Merc painting that needs doing, and a few other family related activities, but a late night or two may bear some fruit!

Marvel Villain Mission Force #1
Last night I ran the first issue of my BASH Villain Mission Force RPG. The player characters were recruited by the mysterious Facilitator to rescue a very special individual from Arcade's Murder World.
Set in 1985, Kim Jong-il had not yet come to power in the North Korea, but he was already a villainous sort by this point, so a group of North Korean expatriates and others pooled their resources to have him kidnapped and slain in Arcade's Murder World! So I needed a Kim Jon-il figure in 28mm, but where do you get that?
I had a spare Murch Pulp Figures Chinese gangster in my bits bin, so added some hair and sunglasses, and I had a decent facsimile of the future "dear leader."
Here he is!

In the end he was successfully rescued, and the VMF enjoyed a riotous victory on their inaugural mission. The team consisted of The Owl, Scorpion, Mr. Hyde, Ghost, and Hydro-Man, who was brimming with fun facts about water!
Rolling on the tables I'd made turned out to be a blast as well. I plan to run another session in a few weeks.
In the meantime, I'll show off more figures as I get them done. Here's the Scorpion:
