RAFM Planetary Militia

RAFM's venerable 15mm sci-fi line never ceases to impress me.  I have painted several of the minis from this pack over the years, and here's two more I just added this week!

Foundry paints Quagmire serves me well for uniforms.

RAFM Space Adventurer

I love 15mm figures with plenty of cool kit, and this gem from the old RAFM line has it in spades!

I could definitely see using this guy as my RPG character in any sci-fi game! He's geared up and ready to rock!

Here's a comp shot:

As always, thanks for visiting!

RAFM Security Officer

I dug another RAFM sci-fi mini out of the backlog and painted him up last night.  This guy is ready to enforce security with extreme prejudice!

I used a Foundry 3-step Quagmire on his uniform.

RAFM Sci-Fi Civilian

A couple of years ago I bought a lot of RAFM 15mm sci-fi packs--they're a great value and provide a nice spread of figures for the genre.  Although these figures are old by current standards, I really enjoy their character and quality.

This excellent figure is from the Crewmen pack.  He reminds me a bit of an A-Team era George Peppard, but maybe that's just me!

Flanked by Khurasan Alien (left) and CMG Merc (right).

As I look more toward using my 15mm in RPG games like Dark Heresy, I'll need more figures like this one in the stable. I love it when a plan comes together!

RAFM 15mm Sci-Fi Crewman

Finished off the last of the Blue Moon robots, so I rewarded myself with another piece from my backlog.

I'm pretty sure this guy is from the Crewman pack I got a while back, but so much of my unpainted stash has been mixed up in my 15mm sci-fi bin, I am not sure!

At any rate, he'll make a good security officer as well.

And a few comp shots, including one with a RAFM Sci-Fi Civilian:

And one with a Blue Moon Ferreen:

Thanks for checking out the blog!

RAFM 15mm Sci-Fi Adventurer II

Cranked out another one while working on other projects. Painting 15mm is so easy--it's just a nice break from the bigger stuff!

This guy has a real Outland vibe to him.

Thanks for looking!

RAFM 15mm Sci-Fi Adventurer

Have not been terribly productive the last few days. Bit of a malaise, here. But I did manage to get another 15mm sci-fi adventurer painted tonight. Here he is:

RAFM 15mm Space Pirate

I came across the remnants of this pack while rummaging around in my unpainted 15mm sci-fi bin. I'm getting the itch to paint 15mm sci-fi again after following this thread on LAF, so I pulled out one of the remaining guys and slapped some paint on him.

There was frankly not a lot of detail on his face, and I decided to take advantage of the weird mold line bisecting it to create kind of a "Deathlok" effect. If this guy is the first member of my 15mm Star Mogul salvage team, then I suspect he is some dead hard robo-hunter down on his luck enough to sign up with the crew.

Here's a shot of him with another RAFM figure and a 15mm.co.uk security robot:

I've owned the Star Mogul game since Origins 2006. I could see extracting its excellent campaign rules and marrying them to AE Bounty's much slicker combat mechanics. Something to muse on.

Next up, back to Dark Sun!

Starport 3030--More Denizens...

In between working on the 15mm company scale rules and revising all of the existing SuperFigs write-ups, I did manage to paint a few more 15mm sci-fi minis for myself.

There are no inks or washes on the above model. I painted him "Foundry style" using some mild blending techniques. Not a bad scheme at 15mm!

Also a RAFM miniature, this second guy was painted using the traditional wash and highlight method. I need to bring the piping on his pants back up a bit.

The Servobot is homemade from some cut up plastic Tau bits. The second pic has him next to one of the RAFM Space Vixens.

More to come, as I should have some extra time this week!

15mm Sci-Fi Skirmish

Ever since the days of the Traveller RPG folks have used 15mm figures in skirmish and role-play. I am slowly building a collection of 15mm sci-fi minis that will allow me to do the same.

One thing I've discovered, and it should have been obvious to me, is that 15mm figures paint up really fast--there's just less area to cover!

I knocked out 6 yesterday. Check them out!

The figures are a mix of RAFM and GZG space pirate types.

I also did this little runabout grav car from GZG:

My goal is to populate an entire star-port full of 15mm sci-fi figure. Should be fun!
