15mm Fantasy Adventurers: The Wizard

What's fantasy without magic?  This time up I have completed the 15mm Wizard. I went with red robes and cap for this guy--he's true neutral and pretty mercenary, so he is a member of the Esoteric Order of Ember, a group of fire mages who sell their services to the highest bidders.

He likely he has a few scrolls in that pack!

15mm Fantasy Adventurers: The Fighter

A while back I acquired some 15mm fantasy figures from Noble Knight Games. This past weekend I got to thinking it might be cool to paint up a traditional adventuring party in 15mm.  Today I am featuring my Fighter!

Heavily armored in plate, I envision this guy as a questing Knight Errant, and the anchor of the 15mm adventuring party.

Next up, the Wizard!

RAFM Planetary Militia

RAFM's venerable 15mm sci-fi line never ceases to impress me.  I have painted several of the minis from this pack over the years, and here's two more I just added this week!

Foundry paints Quagmire serves me well for uniforms.

Crossover Kickstarter

One of my painted Crossover minis!
If you love superhero miniatures like I do, I would urge you to support the current Kickstarter for Crossover Miniatures.  I plan to do so myself!

If interested, go here to support the KS!

If Rusti seems interested, I intend to provide official SuperSystem 3rd ed. stats for all of the characters and minions in the KS.  No matter what, Crossover's second KS marks the kind of project that Kickstarter was made to encourage.

Second Khurasan Assault Crab Alien

Managed to finish a second Khurasan Assault Crab alien this weekend--this one with slightly different colors!

Check him out!

As you can see, my first effort def. has more muted tones.

Khurasan Carapace Alien

I've had a pack of these Khurasan aliens for a while, so I finally got a chance to try a a scheme on one of them.

I've always been partial to green and purple!

I think I will go back and blacken/weather the "business" end of the scorpion tail--he probably uses it a lot!

For anyone wondering, I based him on a plastic Penny from that set of plastic U.S. Coins I blogged about last year.  I plan to use these plastic bases a lot more--the Dimes and Pennies will make ideal bases for 15mm.

Giant Rat For 15mm?

An old plastic Warhammer Quest rat makes an ideal monster for 15mm use!  I had this guy laying around and I decided to finish him up!  I think he looks suitably menacing for 15mm sci-fi!

Chronopia Swamp Goblin

This weekend I got some paint on a Chronopia Swamp Goblin warrior I had sitting around.  I used a technique where I applied inks, then before they set up, I would gently brush most of them off using a damp brush. I should add that I used a white primer on this guy, something I almost never do!

Worked well on the flesh, I think!

Off the Shelf: Heavy Gear Sabertooth Northern Gear

I painted this one a few years ago, but never featured it here, so now as good a time as any!

It's a an older generation Heavy Gear metal model, from the original run of 1/144th scale Gears.

The Sabertooth is a medium Gear used by the Northern forces.  I used a combo of Vallejo yellows for a desert scheme.

BattleTech Alpha Strike Announced!

Catalyst Game Labs made my day last week with the announcement of Alpha Strike--a fully realized, hard-copy version of the Quick Strike rules I love so well to be released by Gen Con.

Brilliant!

If you want more insight into how Alpha Strike differs from traditional BattleTech, and to take a look at some of the 'Mechs I've painted, check some of my previous posts on Quick Strike here.

Off The Shelf: Gul-Hahn The Half-Orc Monk

Years ago we all played in my buddy Brian's D&D Age of Worms campaign, and I played a Half-Orc Monk named Gul-Hahn.  I'm told he was an expert negotiator!

If my upcoming Pathfinder game is half as good as Brian's game was, I'll be very happy!

If Reaper recasts this figure in Bones, I will paint him again!
