Dreamblade 2D Shades

Another great re-purposed Dreamblade mini I'd like to share are these 2-dimensional monstrous shadows. They make excellent ghosts, spirits, and, well, animated, monstrous shadows!

Anyway, perfect for fantasy, horror, or a combo of both!

Dreamblade Re-Paint

The last couple days I have not felt like painting much of anything. I don't want to work on any big projects right now, and so I dug into that magic box of abandoned projects (a shoebox in my basement) and found a neat Dreamblade pre-painted plastic mini I had re-based a while back. As you'll soon see, he's a fat miniature, and there are not enough of those, IMHO. My buddy Rico from Play Unplugged would agree, as he too is a big booster of the fat mini.

Anyway, I hit this guy with some clear coat and then re-painted him tonight. I figure I will use him as Bugbear named character for an RPG, or maybe in a Song of Blades and Heroes band. Check him out:

The "fanny-pack" in the above shot is from a set of 54mm resin accessories for U.S. WWII grunts. He can fit several brown-bag lunches in there!

And here's a comp shot for some scale:

The mini he's menacing is a D&D Metal Jozan I converted a couple years ago for a D&D game.

It's funny, when I sat down at the bench tonight I was totally unmotivated to do anything, but with a bit of effort, I dug this guy out, and as I painted him, my enthusiasm level skyrocketed! Sometimes it just takes a little curve ball to get the juices flowing again. Now I am eager to use him in a game, and so it goes...

Thanks for checking out the blog!

Knight of the Autumn Gate

This Dreamblade pre-paint will make a cool heavy in some future D&D or other fantasy game. I decided to just re-base him and add a few accents of color.

And here's a comp shot of him with a Mega Minis fantasy civilian:

Another Dreamy Find

You know, Dreamblade miniatures have really served me well over the years. This line of incredibly odd, weirdly scaled pre-paints from WotC contains a number of gems suitable for 28mm gaming.

This latest piece I have re-based is a Soul Grub, #68 from the Base Set expansion.

I used it as a beast in my latest Freeport game. A local beggar was actually a dangerous serial killer, and in reality, he was this crazy beast! A dark, soul consuming servant of the Yellow Sign!

Halloween Horror Mini-Projects

I don't really feel like focusing on any rules-related projects this week, and I am not feeling the 15mm stuff right now, so I decided to try my hand at two mini-horror pieces in honor of the imminent Halloween holiday.

First up, I dug out my old Wizards of the Coast D&D 25th Anniversary floating vampire! I painted this guy way back in 1999, and I have been meaning to re-base and re-paint him. Here is what he looks like now:

And next up, a Dreamblade pre-painted Knight of the Autumn Gate:

Not sure what I am going to do with him, but I have now sawed him off of his goofy base, and re-based him and the Vampire onto washers. We'll see where this takes me in the next post!

Shadowrun Troll Physical Adept

Another Troll conversion, this involving a Dreamblade Ogre, the booted feet from a Mageknight troll, some horns from a GW Chaos warrior, and some excellent green-stuff work from my buddy, Sky.

This might be one of my favorite conversions so far!
