Product Plug: Really Useful Boxes

Sometimes I just need to carry 1 or 2 miniatures to a game night, or maybe a small warband of 15mm figures. In these cases, when I am hauling games books and snacks, even a small pistol case can be a bother.

At Staples, I found a really neat product called the Really Useful Box. These come in various sizes, and if you fill them with foam inserts from old blister and clamshell packs, you can safely carry a few miniatures in a bag or coat pocket.

Here's a few pics to illustrate my point!

You can see my Arkham Avengers character and his human alter-ego in the 1.6 litre RUB. Surrounded by plenty of foam bits, they ride to the games in comfort!

Above we have five 15mm hunters and their prey inside the mid-sized .75 litre RUB. Once I place another piece of foam on top of them and clip the lid down tight, they'll be cinched-in and immobilized for safe transport.

The .14 litre above is my latest addition. At only $1 at Staples I buy multiples for when I do single figure commissions for people. Providing them a nice case to carry their mini home in adds a little bit of customer service to the transaction!

And they stack quite nicely as well:

Anyway, RUBs are a pretty nifty way to efficiently carry just a few minis to a game. Give them a try!

  1. That's rather cool :) I use them to hold bitz when working on a specific project - I currently have about half a dozen with Cadian/misc Guard heads/torsos/legs/arms/kit for my IG project. This is a very good idea if you're playing skirmish scale games, or perhaps for some of the character models that don't fit neatly into the normal slots in a case.

You can just pop those in the mail to me. :)

I thought those boxes were cool when I saw them in the store.
