Skaven Warplock Engineer

I needed a magic user for my Skaven army, so I acquired the lovely plastic Warplock Engineer from the the latest WFB boxed set, and painted him up!

All week I'll be featuring more shots of the White Rats, a unit of Stromvermin I am working on for this week's first big installment of our 12 week Warhammer campaign!

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Do you have any posts where you talk about how you take your photos? They are almost always easy to see and capture the detail. I find that even with a traditional set up of lights I'm getting blah.

  2. Thanks, Joe!

I can certainly do a post where I talk about this. For right now, I can tell you that I use an old Sony Mavica digital camera that I bought new in 1998! Yes, this relic still uses floppy discs! Weird, I know, but I get decent results with it. A while back I tried to switch to a new camera, and I was just not happy with the lack of macro capability.

The Sony Mavica has three screw on macro lenses I can add for greater detail--most of my shots are taken with two lenses on.

As to lighting, I have an overhead fluorescent unit and several regular overhead lights. I then direct the arm of my painting light over toward my 2 x 2 terrain square for additional light. Nothing fancy, really. Most times I use a piece of blue card for a neutral background. There are many better miniature photographers out there, but I feel like the pics I take get the job done.

    Hope this helps!
