I had mentioned that I thought Kali's Daggers, my House Kurita, 9th Pesht Lancers unit, seemed a little light. Well, I have rectified that by swapping out one of the 55 ton Griffins in the fire lance with a battlefield reclamation 100 ton Marauder II. It's all-energy profile once again fits the unit's guerrilla M.O., and its jump jets will give it enough maneuverability to keep up with its fellows in the fire lance.
Modeling wise, this was a high degree of difficulty kit. I ended up pinning the legs. Lots of mold lines too, and some I did not catch until it was too late. Oh well.

And some comp shots with other 'Mechs in the unit:

Overall, I love the kit, and its scale fits superbly with the other models in the unit. Next up, Hannibal's Cannibals go shopping and get a BNC-3S Banshee!

Very cool mech, a great addition to a all laser unit.
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking, I prefer the older sculpts. But this one is nice. Also, regarding the mold lines, I don't find it as problematic on mechanical devices (such as Mechs) as it is on biologicals (like your new Rat Ogres, for instance).
ReplyDeleteIt looks good - I wouldn't worry about it too much were I you.
Thanks, J! The Marauder II is about as good as it can get in terms of harkening back to the old designs, the "unseens", while remaining new enough to not get IWM in trouble.
ReplyDeleteThe "new" regular Marauder is not as good, though the "new" Marauder IIC Clan 'Mech isn't bad either.
The "re-seen" Marauder IIc is pretty sweet as well: http://ironwindmetals.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1719
ReplyDeleteYes, that one is very close to the original 3025 Marauder. In some ways, I like it best of all the re-seen attempts. My least fav re-seen is the Shadowhawk.
