Another machine for the Colonial Marshals, this time the 25 ton Mongoose, a light 'Mech with an all-energy menu of weapons.
It sports 3 Medium Lasers and 1 Small Laser. It doesn't jump, but it's incredibly fast.
I've got two of these for the unit, and here is the first one!
Played a great game of BT Qucik-Strike last night and the Wraith did pretty well against some long odds. Did not field the Mongoose yet, but maybe next game!
Thanks for visiting!

It looks speedy in its shape and silhouette.
ReplyDeleteI like the mongoose as a mech design (and you already know I love the paint job). If only it had jets... hills and forests and towns are murder on light mechs without jets! Not something Marshals will have to worry about too often though, I expect.
ReplyDeleteYes, lack of Jump Jets are his only liability. In Quick-Strike games that can be an issue, as getting position in the movement phase is key for light Mechs. Still, he's got the look, so he's in!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Scott, what book do the quick strike rules come in? Web search gives me nothing solid, just cards, reference sheets and a hint that they are part of a larger set of rules.
ReplyDeleteYes, you want the Strategic Operations Handbook, a honking big hardcover which contains the BattleForce and Quick-Strike rules. The QS rules exist as an 8-page subset of the BF rules presented in that book.
ReplyDeleteYou really don't need anything else. They reference the Total War rules (that's the book of the hardcore, all-in BattleTech rules), but I don't think you need them. We haven't.
For units that don't currently have pretty, pre-made cards, you can use the BattleTech MUL, found here:

Just double the movements listed to get the movement in inches. Everything else pretty much goes right over to QS.
Hope this helps!
Thanks much.
